20-Year-Old Kentucky Woman Arrested After Allegedly Driving Into Crowd While Drunk, Injuring Four

Earlier Sunday, a 20-year-old woman from Kentucky was arrested for driving under the influence and striking a pedestrian.

According to a police report from the Lexington Police Department, Cadence Carpenter was arrested at about 2:20 a.m. at the corner of Short Street and Mill Street in downtown Lexington.

Police who were responding to a disturbance in a parking lot in the area said Kaydence Carpenter drove with extreme disregard for human life when he drove over the curb and into a group of pedestrians, hitting four people.

The victim’s injuries were potentially life-threatening.

Police said Carpenter was driving down Short Street in the wrong direction when they finally stopped him.

Cadence Carpenter showed signs of being intoxicated, with watery, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, multiple signs of emotion and the odor of an intoxicating drink, the report said.

When they searched her, they found a fake ID and her valid driver’s license.

She was then taken to the Fayette County Detention Center and submitted to routine sobriety tests. Test results showed that Kaydence was drunk and under the age of 21.

She was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, five counts of second-degree assault, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and allowing a person under 21 to enter a place where alcoholic beverages are sold.
