2 NFL head coach openings remain (and Broncos have candidates for both)

Only two head coaching vacancies remain in the NFL after the Cleveland Browns hired Todd Monken as their new head coach on Wednesday.

The Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals are yet to hire, and the Denver Broncos also have candidates for both positions. Denver defensive coordinator Vance Joseph interviewed for the Arizona job, but he’s not necessarily considered the top candidate for the job.

Broncos offensive passing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach Davis Webb has conducted two interviews in Las Vegas (a virtual Zoom call followed by an in-person interview). Weber and Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Clint Kubiak are considered the Raiders’ two top candidates.

Kubiak is currently preparing to coach Seattle’s offense in the Super Bowl, so if he is a target for Las Vegas, they won’t be able to hire him until after February 8. Weber, meanwhile, has drawn interest from multiple teams with offensive coordinator vacancies and could be a candidate for Denver’s own offensive coordinator position after Joe Lombardi was fired.

Now it’s just a matter of waiting. It depends on the Raiders and Cardinals.
