Delaware State Police are investigating a two-car head-on collision in Holly Oak that killed a 19-year-old woman from Newark.
At about 8:55 pm on February 20, a Volvo truck tractor pulling a trailer full of cars was traveling southbound on Interstate 95 south of Harvey Road when a northbound Chrysler 200 crossed the grass median and collided head-on with the Volvo.
The 19-year-old Chrysler driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital but died from her injuries, police said. Her name will be withheld until family members are notified.
The driver of the Volvo, a 34-year-old man from New York, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The interstate was closed for approximately six hours while the crash was investigated and cleaned up.
Police said it was unclear why the Chrysler driver crossed the median and the accident remains under investigation.
