Girona star Claudio Echeverri says he did step on Jules Kounde before Fran Beltran scored the winning goal for Michel’s side against Barcelona on Monday night.
Barcelona were furious that the goal was allowed to stand and Echeverri gave his version of events after watching a replay.

“Yes, I stepped on Conde’s foot, but I was running very fast and it wasn’t intentional,” he told El Chiringuito. He then added: “If the referee calls it a foul, I understand.”
Echeverry’s words did little to ease Barcelona’s mood after another difficult night for Hansi Flick’s side, with the result meaning they missed the chance to return to the top of the table.
Flick confirmed afterwards that he would give the team two days off, but he wanted to see them compete for the title.
“Everyone is disappointed. We will fight. We now have time to come back over the next two weeks without midweek games,” he said.
“We will train well and come back on Sunday. Now we have to fight and attack first place in the table.”
