Jan. 26—Two goals in the first period weren’t enough for the Wisconsin senior men’s lacrosse team, as Wisconsin-River Falls tied the game in the second period and won 3-2 in overtime to sweep the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Conference series on Saturday, Jan. 25, in River Falls.
The Falcons won Friday’s opener 5-3.

Justin Dauphinais’ buzzer-beating shot with 0.8 seconds left gave UWS a 2-1 lead on Saturday. Just 1 minute and 51 seconds into the game, Logan Nickerson already gave UWS the lead.
However, Keenan Ingram scored the game-tying goal for UWRF with 9:20 left in the second period and 1:35 into overtime.
Jan Skorpik made 36 saves for UWS.
UWS also scored early in the game on Friday, with Blake Setter making it 1-0 at 1:13. But UWRF responded less than a minute later, tying the game and scoring two more goals in the first period. Alexey Yarmulnik scored for UWS early in the second period and Daniel Roszival scored early in the third, but the Yellowjackets never caught up.

Jack Boschert made 10 saves for UWS before giving up to Kobe Grant, who had 24 saves over two-plus weeks.
UWS (11-7-1, 4-5-0 WIAC) will host Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a two-game series on Jan. 30-31.
The Wisconsin senior women’s lacrosse team had a close win and a tough loss in conference play this past weekend in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
The Blue and Gold scored the winning goal with 48.1 seconds left to win 4-3 on Friday and swept the Yellow Jackets 5-0 on Saturday.
Avery Olenik scored twice to help UWS recover from a 3-1 deficit midway through the game and score the tying goal with 8:01 remaining. However, Madisyn Krumholz scored the winning goal for the third point of the game.

Jayda Moyer made 36 saves for UWS, which fell 40-24.
On Saturday, UWS had 22 shots blocked by UWEC goalkeeper Kambelle Freije. Maddie Wostrell and Moyer shared goaltending duties, with Wostrell making 20 saves and Moyer making 17 saves.
UWS (1-18-1, 1-6-0 WIAC) will play a game on Saturday, January 31 at Wisconsin River Falls.
Three reserves scored in double figures, but the Wisconsin senior men’s basketball team held off an 80-78 victory over Minnesota Morris in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference game on Saturday, Jan. 24.
At halftime, the Cougars held a 37-31 lead. UWS pulled within three in the final seconds but still found themselves needing a foul call in the final minute. Nick Nordaune’s 3-pointer brought UWS within one point with 4 seconds left, but UWS couldn’t make a shot in the final two seconds after the Cougars made two free throws at the other end.

Gage Brady, who came off the bench, scored 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting. Nordaune played 38 minutes and scored 13 points, while Caiden Lecce added 12 points and seven assists.
UWS shot 18 of 32 (56%) in the second half, but Morris made 24 free throws in the period compared to 11 for UWS.
UWS (5-13, 1-4 UMAC) will host Crown on Wednesday night, January 28th.
A one-point deficit in the third quarter doomed the Wisconsin senior women’s basketball team’s 59-48 victory over Minnesota Morris.
The Yellow Jackets and Cougars were tied at 27 at halftime, but what was already a less than stellar offensive day (12-for-38 shooting in the first half, 1-for-10 from 3-point range) turned really bad in the third quarter. In those 10 minutes, the Yellowjackets missed all 15 of their shots, including five from beyond the arc. Maddie Reott scored one point on a free throw with 2:33 left in the game.

Megan Schafer hit UWS’ final shot of the first half with a layup with 2:16 left, and ended the ridiculous run with a three-pointer 29 seconds into the fourth quarter. MyKenzie Leccia added three more goals on the next possession, but UWS was closing in on 10.
Hope Carlson (Proctor) had 14 points and nine rebounds for UWS, while Lesia had 10 points and seven rebounds.
UWS (6-12, 3-2 UMAC) returns home to face Crown on Wednesday.
