Mafia: Definitive Edition is coming to Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft announced on Wednesday that a remastered version of the 2002 classic game “Hangar 13” will be added to Microsoft’s game subscription service on August 13. The game will be available on Game Pass for Console, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Ultimate. The latest addition to Game Pass features comes after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 became the first Call of Duty game to join the service on July 24.
Mafia: Definitive Edition joins Game Pass
The official Xbox Game Pass account announced on X, confirming that Mafia: Definitive Edition will be added to the Game Pass catalog on August 13th. Mafia: Definitive Edition is a complete remaster of the first Mafia game, built from the ground up to include new assets, expanded story, new vehicles, scoring, and more.
Published by 2K, the game was released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2020, and is also available as part of the Mafia Trilogy Pack. This open-world action-adventure game is set in the fictional city of Lost Paradise and follows protagonist Tommy Angelo as he rises from humble beginnings as a taxi driver to a gangster.
Developer Hangar 13 is also working on the next installment in the Mafia series. Roman HladÃk, general manager of Hangar 13, confirmed in 2022 that the studio has begun development of a new Mafia project. “While we’re still a few years away from release and we can’t share more content right now, we’re really excited to continue working on this beloved series and entertain our players with new stories,” Horadik said at the time.
Since then, there have been rumors that 2K is preparing to release the Mafia series, but the publisher has yet to share any updates on the new game. The last mainline game in the series was 2016’s Mafia 3.
Other Game Pass Additions
Last week, Game Pass was expected to add Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy on August 8th. Microsoft has not yet confirmed the name of the gaming subscription service.
Notably, the parent company of Xbox confirmed Game Pass for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 earlier this month. This first-person shooter game joined the Game Pass service on July 24, becoming the first COD game to be launched on Game Pass.
Xbox Game Pass is also scheduled to add the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on the day and date of its release on October 25th.
