BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 70-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Kensington Avenue Saturday night, according to Amherst police.
Police said the incident occurred around 6 p.m. Saturday at 1970 Kensington Ave., when a 2022 Jeep Compass driven by a 57-year-old woman struck the 70-year-old victim in the roadway.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver fled the scene before officers arrived, according to Amherst police.

Cheektowaga police later found the driver at their residence. After investigation, the driver was charged with driving while intoxicated, causing a fatal crash and second-degree manslaughter.
