Shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Horizon Boulevard and Ashford Street for reports of a hit-and-run accident.
The victims told police their vehicle was hit from behind by another vehicle, which fled the scene. The victim captured video of the suspicious vehicle fleeing the area and provided police with a description of the vehicle and driver, later identified as Portillo.
During the investigation, police located the vehicle at a residence in the 12900 block of Barnard Road. The vehicle had visible damage to the front end, consistent with the reported accident.
Police attempted to contact the residence but no one responded. Horizon City police said the vehicle was impounded “to preserve potential evidence related to the accident.”
Portillo later arrived at the Horizon City Police Department to report her involvement in the hit-and-run accident.
