WI vs ITA: West Indies not taking Italy lightly

KOLKATA: West Indies are in a happy space at the moment. They have rarely shown the kind of consistency they are enjoying in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Three comfortable wins, including one against England, meant they were already among the contenders.

The final group game against Italy takes place on Thursday and batting coach Floyd Reifer says there will be no let-up.

“We take every game seriously,” Leifer said before Wednesday’s practice session. “This is another opportunity for us to keep ticking the boxes. To make sure we control the different phases of the game that we discussed in the team meeting. Tomorrow’s game will be like that and give us a chance to adapt.”

Their main batsmen are in good form and that will help them keep their confidence going in the Super Eights. Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, and Sherfane Rutherford have all competed. Brendon King and Rovman Powell have also started.
