prince harry and Meghan Markle’s philanthropic empire is undergoing a quiet but dramatic reorganization.
What started as rumors of mass layoffs have now turned into confirmed departures, structural changes and growing financial problems.
The Archewell Foundation, once positioned as the heart of the Sussexes’ humanitarian work, has been disbanded and replaced by a leaner model.
Concerns are growing over whether Prince Harry and his wife’s philanthropic vision is sustainable as staff leave, costs rise and donations fall.

According to a report daily mail, The Archewell Foundation, the not-for-profit arm of Harry and Meghan’s business empire, no longer operates in its original form.
While reports initially exaggerated claims that the charity had closed entirely, it has actually been replaced by a new entity called Archewell Charity.
The transition resulted in the departure of at least four employees, leaving only one employee.
These changes imply significant contraction rather than expansion. Archewell will no longer operate as an independent charity but will adopt a “fiscal sponsorship model”.
This means that its activities must now be approved by another organization operating as its legal umbrella.
This shift was intended to reduce administrative costs, but also led to an almost complete collapse of its personnel structure.

The most significant departure is James Holt, who ran Archewell with joint executive director Shauna Nep.
as explode Holt, who has worked closely with Prince Harry and Meghan for nearly a decade, will reportedly return to the UK after leading the charity since 2021.
Speculation continued about Holt’s exit, with talk of visa issues and dissatisfaction with his performance.
A source in Sussex said “They were unhappy with his job. They were ready to let him go”, while others denied this and insisted the couple had always supported Holt’s residency status.
Both sides issued passionate public statements. “From the moment I met Meghan, I recognized that we had a kindred spirit in finding joy even in difficult times and authentically connecting with people no matter the circumstances,” Holt said.
Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan responded: “James has been a vital support to us for almost a decade… As James moves his young family back to the UK, we are proud that he will continue to guide us on various overseas humanitarian trips through Archewell Charity.”

Holt’s departure was disclosed earlier explode Meredith Mains resigned as chief communications officer.
It was revealed that Kristen Slevin, Archewell’s director of projects and operations, was also fired. Slavin’s position reportedly pays $146,000.
Despite these cuts, Archewell’s latest accounts show expenses ballooned to $5.1 million, while grants were just $1.25 million.
The charity ended the year with a deficit of $2.5 million, with reserves falling to $8.5 million.
One industry insider summed up the dilemma bluntly. “The big question is, will Archewell close or be taken over by another charity?” they said.
With Napp now the only remaining employee and juggling other charity roles, including one run by Hailey Bieber and Scooter Braun, Archwell’s operational footprint has shrunk dramatically.

The financial documents also reveal spending patterns that have prompted criticism.
Archewell spent more than $1 million providing “programmatic strategic support” to external agencies, including public relations firm M&C Saatchi.
Meanwhile, grants have been sparse in areas the couple focused on during their high-profile tours, with just $10,000 given to sub-Saharan Africa and $8,310 to South America despite trips to Nigeria and Colombia.
The charity’s largest donation is $150,000 to Screen Sanity, and other donations include a $25,000 donation to the ParentTogether Foundation.
While Archewell is committed to promoting causes such as cybersecurity and mental health, insiders believe the figures show the charity is struggling to balance its mission with operating costs.

Founded in 2020 with the mission to “show up and do good,” Archewell is described as “not just a handout, but a handheld tool.” However, sustaining this vision proved difficult.
After an initial donation of $13 million in 2021, donations fluctuated significantly in subsequent years and never returned to that peak.
A Sussex source said the new model would focus more on “impact rather than operations”, suggesting fewer staff and more public-facing activities.
That means speeches, appearances and informal international royal tours will continue, but under the umbrella of another organization.
As one observer noted, this retrenchment marks a shift from ambition to survival.
Archewell philanthropy may still exist, but now on a much smaller and more restricted scale.
