Wardley believed Du Bois would give up when the going got tough
“If you have something on you, you have something on you. If it’s there – well, you might have covered it up or gotten around it somehow in a fight – but if it’s there, it’s there. If you want to give up, you just have to have the right guy in front of you to bring it out.”

Facing Dubois in his first title defense instead of an easier opponent
“Why easy touches? … I know it’s voluntary, I can pick in the top 15, and yeah, OK, maybe there are guys in there that aren’t as dangerous as Daniel, but ultimately there are no easy touches at this level. I’m not fighting some journeyman or bum that just rolled off the street. Like, I’m still fighting a real athlete who’s going to be in the top 15 somehow. So if you make a penny, you’re going to make a pound, let’s go.”
On whether Dubois is the best fighter he has ever faced
“Yes. The toughest boxer.”

Would he be angry if Usyk fought Kabayel in his place?
“Yes, I would. Again, I can understand that – well, actually I can’t understand it… if I had a different hat, I’m talking about commercial appeal, I don’t think Cabayel has more commercial appeal than I do. So monetarily, are you making more money off of him? No. So what does that mean? Are you doing it for what, or are you picking it because you think it’s an easier fight than me?
“I can understand choosing Wilder because of the American market, more money, a lot of conditions are met. But Cabayel said, why? … So I would be angry, but we hope that doesn’t happen.”
