Kalen DeBoer picked up his first win as the Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Friday night against the Oklahoma Sooners.
After losing to the Sooners in their first two meetings, DeBoer and the Crimson Tide finally conquered Oklahoma State on Friday night in the biggest game between the two teams since the 2018 CFP semifinals, with Alabama winning 34-24.

The win certainly didn’t come easy, though, as Alabama initially trailed 17-0 against a talented Sooners team that had already beaten them once this season, but ended up erasing that deficit in a thrilling comeback that will likely be talked about for years to come.
After the game, DeBoer spoke during the postgame press conference, during which he used his opening remarks to share his thoughts on Alabama’s memorable road win at Oklahoma State.
“I couldn’t be more proud of these guys,” DeBoer said. “Resilience, that’s been a theme all season long, but it was on full display tonight coming down 17 points and coming back the way we did, one score at a time and really hanging on.”
“Both sides have had their moments and great plays and we’ve been working on it. Last night, we talked about that as a team that has to come out here and play together and that’s what I saw tonight, so I couldn’t be more proud of these guys.”
After a win over Oklahoma State, Alabama will play in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day, January 1, in Pasadena, California. There, Alabama will face the top-seeded Hoosiers in the CFP quarterfinals.
