The New York Jets really have nothing to show for themselves: Sunday was an unmitigated disaster.
The Jets are playing for pride at this point and they looked like a team with little to no advantage as they were beaten 42-10 by the New England Patriots.

Due in large part to injuries, the Jets rolled out a lineup that was frankly the final game of the preseason. Still, they scored touchdowns on the Patriots’ first six possessions and went into halftime up 35-3. Regardless, the Jets’ performance was unacceptable, even if the Patriots were the AFC East champions
It’s even worse when you consider that another terrible team, the Cleveland Browns, is stirring things up against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After the game, there was nothing the Jets players could do except put it on.
“There are no words to explain this,” offensive lineman John Simpson said in a transcript provided by the team. “This is unacceptable. That’s the best word I can use to explain it.”
“It’s really disappointing,” linebacker Jermaine Johnson II lamented. “It’s embarrassing. That’s it. You know, it’s as a team, as a defense. I’m sure offensively they feel the same way.”

“It’s really frustrating,” Jets offensive lineman Armand Menbou said of falling behind at halftime. “Obviously you play the game to win, so it’s frustrating.”
Perhaps the harshest comments came from head coach Aaron Glenn, who praised his players’ efforts with comments that could be read in many ways as coming from a coach in the hot seat.
“Very, very disappointed with the way we came out,” Glenn said. “I think allowing this team to score on their first six possessions. That’s not good. Offensively, we were stagnant. Also, we allowed them to put pressure on the quarterback and throw another interception in this game, which is not good.
“And, man, I always talk about how we perform, how hard we play. Today was probably the first time that I felt like our effort wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be. It’s just, I’m not kidding you guys, just being honest. I didn’t think our effort was needed. We’ve got to figure that out.”
