West Ham United are in trouble.
They couldn’t buy a win in the league and kept shooting themselves in the foot when they were about to score 3 points. Even this week’s cup win against QPR was a tough game.

They have problems throughout the squad – their midfield is short, they don’t have good defenders, but all their January spending so far has been on attack. They looked like they were going to fall.
West Ham will help Chelsea escape from poor transfer decision

Where did Chelsea come from? The Hammers appear to be considering signing Chelsea backup goalkeeper Philipp Jorgensen in a bid to bolster their mediocre goalkeeping ranks, according to TeamTalk.
The Swedish Dane signed for £21m in the summer of 2025 but has yet to impress. He looked pretty crafty when given the chance, with even the much-maligned Roberto Sanchez showing better form.

Frankly, we really wouldn’t recommend it. Jorgensen has yet to show his Premier League quality and doesn’t have the composure and experience that any goalkeeper needs to help you avoid relegation.
For that reason, it all sounds unlikely – although we would never rule out West Ham’s transfer decision just because it’s a bad idea. Chelsea would certainly be willing to complete their failed experiment at a break-even price.
In other news…
Cole Palmer had his miracle year under Mauricio Pochettino rather than Enzo Maresca, and the statistics clearly show that – but how much of that actually comes down to the coach?
Rio Ferdinand has also called on Rosenior to look at how to get the most out of Palmer – something we all want to see.
