Warriors star Jimmy Butler leaves game vs. Thunder early with apparent knee injury

Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler exited early Tuesday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder with an apparent knee injury.

Butler briefly left the game midway through the second quarter after he tripped slightly on the baseline and lost his shoe. As the game went the other way, Butler slowly put on his shoes and began limping off the floor. He returned to the locker room during the next timeout but returned to the game a few minutes later.

However, Butler limped again in the final period of the first half and returned to the locker room early. He stayed there forever and didn’t start the third quarter. The Warriors ruled him out before the fourth quarter with left knee soreness.

Further details are unclear.

Butler had six points and three rebounds in 15 minutes Tuesday night. He made 2 of 7 field goals. The 36-year-old averaged 20.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game this season while shooting nearly 53% from the field.

The Warriors entered Tuesday’s game having lost four of their last six games, moving their record to 11-10 on the season. The Thunder, meanwhile, have lost just once this season and are once again looking dominant. They limited the Golden State Warriors to 18 points in the second quarter and led by 19 points at halftime.
