BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Mahoning County dog wardens are asking for the public’s help identifying the owner of a dog following “one of the worst cases of neglect” they have ever seen.
According to a post on the warden’s Facebook page, the warden received a call from Every Dog Matters Rescue Tuesday morning saying that when someone arrived, they found a “seriously injured” female French bulldog behind the building at 6329 Market St., Boardman.
The dog was rushed to a veterinarian. The post said she was likely hit by a car a few weeks ago and her leg was so infected that she was “literally dead.”
“The infection had entered her abdominal cavity and was so severe that she had to be released,” the post said.
Surveillance video showed the dog was abandoned in the freezing cold around 10:30 Monday night, leaving it lying on a pee pad for more than 10 hours, the post said.
A police report has been filed, but dog wardens are asking anyone with information about the dog or its owner to contact Ohio Animal Charities.
