Story: A rearview mirror problem has forced Porsche and its parent company Volkswagen to recall more than 500,000 vehicles in the United States.The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the latest round of measures on Tuesday (January 6).Volkswagen Group of America, including its Audi unit, is recalling more than 356,000 vehicles in the country.The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it was due to a software error that caused problems with rearview camera image display.Volkswagen’s annual sales in the U.S. market will be close to 380,000 vehicles in 2024 and close to 330,000 vehicles in 2023.It did not immediately respond to a request for comment.Last week, Porsche, the luxury car arm of the German auto group, said it would recall more than 173,000 vehicles in the United States due to rearview camera problems.This is one of the largest single safety recalls issued by Porsche Cars North America in recent years.The agency said that Volkswagen’s recall affects some models from 2019 to 2026, and dealers will update the software for free.
