The United States’ latest push to end Russia’s nearly four-year war in Ukraine has sparked a frenzy of diplomatic activity.
Negotiators and officials from the United States, Ukraine and Russia have held a series of meetings around the world in recent weeks to discuss a potential deal.
Below is a schedule of key talks.
Nov. 19: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy travels to Türkiye in what he says is an effort to start talks to end the war. Shortly after the United States and Russia drafted a 28-point peace plan, reports emerged that the plan was heavily tilted in favor of Moscow.
November 20: U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll travels to the Ukrainian capital to meet with Zelensky to brief him on U.S.-backed peace proposals.
On November 23, US Secretary of State Rubio met in Geneva with the Ukrainian delegation led by then Chief of Staff Yermak and held talks. Both sides said progress had been made but did not provide any details. Yermak also met with European security officials.
November 24-25: Driscoll meets with Russian officials in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov said the two sides had not discussed a new peace plan in detail.
November 30: A Ukrainian delegation led by Rustem Umerov meets with U.S. officials in Florida. Umerov replaces Yermak, who resigned amid a corruption scandal involving the country’s energy sector.
December 1: Zelensky travels to Paris to meet French President Emmanuel Macron and update him on the outcome of the Florida talks, while a U.S. delegation travels to Moscow for talks with Russian officials.
December 2: Putin meets with Witkov and Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, for five hours at the Kremlin. Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev and Putin’s senior adviser Ushakov were also present. Ushakov called the meeting constructive but said there was still much work to be done.
December 2: Zelensky meets in Ireland with a Ukrainian delegation returning from Florida. He told a news conference that Ukraine was waiting for a signal from the U.S. delegation after a meeting in Russia.
Dec. 4: The Ukrainian delegation flies back to Florida to meet with members of the U.S. team visiting Moscow.
