More football games means more revenue for leagues and broadcast partners, more fantasy and gambling opportunities for fans, and more of everything that makes football great. Who doesn’t want an 18th game added to the NFL season?

“I’m not a big fan of it,” one NFL player said in July when asked about the possibility of the NFL season moving to 18 games. “You’ve seen the number of injuries at the end of the season and you want to get your best players into the biggest games.”

That player is Patrick Mahomes, He is now out for the season due to a torn ACL in Week 15. Also gone in 2025: Green Bay’s Micah Parsons, who suffered a torn ACL around the same time as Mahomes.
