An atmospheric river from the Pacific Northwest brought heavy rain to Redding, triggering flash flooding in the Shasta Cascades.
The storm, also known as Pineapple Express, is not expected to weaken until after Christmas. The National Weather Service in Sacramento announced that a flash flood warning will remain in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, December 26.
As of December 21, up to 8 inches of rain had fallen in some areas of Redding.

Many streams are overflowing or there is a high possibility of flash flooding. The Meteorological Department:
