The next ring card is set to be released on January 31st and features another highly anticipated matchup.

One boxer who may be watching this fight closely made a big step forward in his career on Saturday night.

There was an unusual scene in a lightweight clash involving a rapid-fire combination on the same card as Roman Fury’s controversial suspension.

On January 10th, Cuban Jadier Herrera took to the ring in Germany looking to remain undefeated and improve his record to 18-0.

The 23-year-old will face Panamanian Ricardo Nunes with the interim WBC world lightweight title at stake.

Despite being knocked down during the fight, the Cuban star emerged victorious after a hard-fought battle.

Herrera came out with a strong attack before the fight was paused, and despite landing some hard punches of his own, he continued to punch and showed his confidence.

While trying to get between them, referee Daniel van der Wiele slipped while reaching for Herrera and hit the canvas. The incident did not affect the outcome as Nunes was clearly in trouble before the fall occurred.

Once Vandeweele got back to his feet, he confirmed that Herrera had earned another victory – albeit with a few bumps along the way.

Jader Herrera could soon be promoted to undisputed champion

If the division wasn’t already packed with scheduled fights, Herrera might just punch his ticket and take on one of boxing’s biggest names.

Shakur Stevenson has held the WBC lightweight title since November 2023 after defeating Edwin De Los Santos.

This month, though, Stevenson will move up a weight class. He will fight Teofimo Lopez for the WBO welterweight title at Madison Square Garden.

If Stevenson chooses not to return to lightweight in the near future, Herrera’s recent victory over Nunes could give him a shot at a world title shot.
