Just weeks after Hearn lost star fighter Conor Benn to UFC president Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing, Matchroom signed the Brit to fight back.

“Welcome to UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall,” Hearn said in a statement. “It’s time to get what’s yours. I’m looking at you and you’re one of the biggest stars in global combat sports. It’s time to build that image. We need to get him back to the top, not back to the top, because guess what, he’s at the top, you’re the UFC Heavyweight Champion and there’s no greater than that.”

Aspinall added: “I’m really pleased to welcome Eddie [Hearn] and Matchroom Sport Group in commercial and advisory roles, and became the first athlete to join the new Matchroom talent agency.

“Eddie has built one of the biggest brands in sports and understands what it takes to take athletes to the next level both inside and outside the game. “I’m really looking forward to working together and exploring some exciting opportunities as I continue my journey back into the cage.
