Two shootings reported overnight in Tallahassee, police say

Two unrelated shootings occurred in Tallahassee on the night of December 15, police said.

According to the incident report sent via email, the following occurred:

At 4:32 p.m., a man and another man were sitting in a car in the 700 block of Appleyard Dr. when two men opened fire on them. One of them was shot in the leg; police did not say which one.

The victim fled the scene and went to an emergency center with injuries that were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Six hours later, police responded to Circle K, 433 Crawfordville Highway, for a victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the hand.

The actual shooting was determined to have occurred in the 3800 block of Sunburst Loop.

Preliminary findings revealed that the victim was sitting in her car when a suspect known to the victim pulled up behind the victim in a U-Haul truck. The suspect banged on the window and tried to pull the driver out of the car. He shot the victim in the left hand and fled the scene.

When police searched the area, they found the U-Haul with evidence related to the shooting. The victim was transported to a local hospital.

The incidents were the 56th and 57th shootings in the capital and county. So far this year, 20 people have been killed and 39 injured, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence.
