TSSAA football state champions up for Ponce Law Boys Athlete of the Week

There were some great performances last week at the TSSAA football state championships and TSSAA basketball games.

Kaedyn Marable, BGA: In BGA’s 61-27 win over FRA in the II-AA state championship game, Marable completed 24 of 31 passes for 384 yards and four touchdowns, plus rushing for 61 yards and three touchdowns.

Larry Sanders II, Brentwood Academy: In BA’s 28-24 loss to Baylor in the DII-AAA state championship game, Sanders rushed 29 times for 215 yards and three touchdowns.

Brodie Sanders, Davidson College: Sanders scored 26 points on five 3-pointers in a 64-59 victory over Mellor Hyde.

Michael Fish, Father Ryan: Fish scored 29 points to help the team defeat Hillsborough 62-58.

Nash Stark, Lipscomb College: Stark had a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds.

Jared Curtis, Nashville Christian: In Nashville Christian’s 59-7 win over USJ in the DII-A state championship game, Curtis completed 14 of 19 passes for 205 yards and five touchdowns, plus rushed four times for 78 yards and a touchdown.

Craig Tate, Oakland: Tutt tied a TSSAA football state championship record with seven touchdowns in a 62-21 victory over Ravenwood in the Class 6A final. He rushed 32 times for 226 yards.

Cohen Gleason, Page: Gleason recorded 14 tackles, two sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss and two tackles for loss in Page’s 21-14 Class 5A state championship win over Sevier County.

Camelot League, Pearl Cohen: Union had nine tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one forced fumble in Pearl-Cohn’s 47-27 loss to Alcoa in the Class 4A state championship game.

Avery Coles, White House Legacy: Coles scored 31 points in a 64-60 victory over Joe Burns.
