TOM LAMAS: We didn’t get a chance to talk about the Department of Justice. I appreciate the time you and your staff spent. They are very, very friendly.
Should others expect the Justice Department to go after them the way you go after some of your political opponents?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Well, we remember the story. I was impeached twice, fake impeachments twice, and won easily.
The Republicans were 100 percent behind me, but I beat them. I’ve been sued 87 times and you ask me this question.
I think I was very gentle, especially with what they did to me. They wanted to knock me down. I said to someone, do me a favor and add up the count. If I lose, you know, I win.
But if I lose these cases, add the charges and tell me, how long do I need to serve in jail? Do you know what they came up with? 287 years. I said, I better win.
TOM LAMAS: In your opinion, does that calculation mean that the Justice Department can go after your political opponents?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: I can be a part of that. You know, I’m the chief law enforcement officer of the United States. I could participate, but I don’t. I don’t choose.
But when they said to me, oh, you’re going after someone else, I got sued every time. He has been in prison for 287 years.
They were willing to ask me a question about Clinton at yesterday’s press conference because I had testimony. The Epstein thing, it turned out that I had nothing to do with Epstein and they did.
They said, do you think the subpoena and everything is bad? They disobey subpoenas.
I actually said it was a shame. You have a former president and now you have the president’s wife and the secretary of state. I said, what a shame. It’s a shame,
TOM LAMAS: NBC News has this story today. I don’t know if you saw it, but the Democrats are already saying, if you bring President Bill Clinton and he has to testify, we’re going to bring President Trump. What do you think about this?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Well, I guess they might say that, you know. But they’ve brought me here. Lo and behold, I was taken. They sued me multiple times. Many, many times. They didn’t do that with Clinton.
