Kelce said he felt “a lot of emotions” after the game but avoided directly confirming his retirement
Travis Kelce may have just played the final home game of his 13-year NFL career.
Kelce was visibly emotional during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Christmas Day game against the Broncos on Thursday, especially in the team’s 20-13 loss to Denver. The Chiefs are 6-10 this season and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade. Kelce’s contract with the Chiefs is expiring, and there has been speculation that he will retire after his final game on January 4.

With that in mind, Kelce’s game on Dec. 25 may be his last home game at Arrowhead Stadium.
“I’m very emotional,” Kelce, 36, told reporters at the postgame press conference, according to the Associated Press. “People all over the world are watching you. You get to be on prime-time television with young people. Young people get a chance to experience life in the NFL.”
Kelce played coy when asked about his retirement, first joking about playing Powerball and then telling reporters, “I’ll make that decision at the time with my family, friends and the Chiefs organization.”
Kelce’s fiancée Taylor Swift attended the game and watched from Kelce’s suite with his mom, Donna Kelce.

Kelce said the Chiefs “were in control at the right moments,” but added the team “just wasn’t scoring enough.”
“Really, we still have a chance, baby, that’s what matters to me, we have a chance, and we continue to work with the mentality and the urgency that we need to fix the ship,” he said.

Kelce was visibly frustrated after the Nov. 16 loss, telling reporters that he “didn’t care too much” about passing running back Pastor Holmes’ record in the game. “If you’re asking me about records, I don’t really care about that right now,” Kelce said.
Meanwhile, quarterback Patrick Mahomes said after the loss that he still thinks the Chiefs are “very talented” and have “a lot of great players” but need “more consistency” this season.
“I think it starts with me,” continued Mahomes, who is currently recovering from ACL surgery. “Sometimes, I’m firing and we’re moving the ball down the field with ease. But other times, we’re in a rush and I’ll miss a pass or pass.” [pass] Protection call. We weren’t consistent enough to win games. Start with me. “
