Actor Timothy Busfield said he drove “2,000 miles to Albuquerque” to turn himself in to police on charges of unlawful sex with a minor.
The 68-year-old actor turned himself in on Tuesday, January 13, People magazine confirmed.
In a video obtained by TMZ and reportedly filmed at his attorney’s office in Albuquerque, Busfield claimed, “I didn’t do anything wrong” and detailed his surrender.
“Hi, I’m Tim,” said Busfield — who is the wife of Melissa Gilbert and best known for playing Danny Concannon on “Danny Concannon.” west wing ——said in the video. “As I’m sure most of you who are watching this know, I was ordered to go to Albuquerque – which is where I am now. Friday night I got the call that I had to get a lawyer. I drove 2,000 miles to Albuquerque on Saturday. I got to face these lies. They were horrific.”
He continued, “These are lies, I didn’t do anything to those little boys and I’m going to fight it. I’m going to fight it with a great team and I’m going to be exonerated and I know I am because it’s all wrong and it’s all lies.”
Busfield said at the end of the video. “So hang in there and hopefully I’ll be well and back to work soon. I love everyone’s support for me, thank you.”
The video was released four days after the Albuquerque Police Department issued an arrest warrant for the 68-year-old actor on Jan. 9, accusing Busfield of engaging in unlawful sexual conduct with two boys, 11-year-old twins, whose identities have not been released to the public.
The victim’s parents said the boys met Bousfield on the set of the Fox series, cleaning ladyAccording to the arrest warrant, Busfield “became closer” to the boys after taking on the role of director on the second season, which airs in 2022 and was filmed in New Mexico.
The investigation began on November 1, 2024, after a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) alerted police to alleged sexual abuse.

According to the arrest warrant, the boys’ mother asked her sons “if anyone had touched them in a way that made them uncomfortable. The children allegedly responded, ‘You mean someone like Uncle Tim?'”
Attorneys advised the parents to take the children to New Hampshire Medical Center in New Hampshire, where they said professionals advised the boys were “groomed,” the warrant said.
The children did not disclose any sexual contact at the time, but they did claim Bousfield “tickled their stomachs and legs,” an officer said in the arrest warrant. The case did not meet their acceptance criteria at the time.
The arrest warrant details how the boy’s mother filed a police report on Oct. 3, 2025, telling Child Protective Services that “her children all disclosed that from approximately November 2022 to the spring of 2024, Timothy was sexually abused.” At that time, she was told that because no physical abuse occurred, nothing could be done, according to the arrest warrant.
The mother later told authorities on September 2, 2025, and again on September 22, 2025, that one of the boys told his counselor that Bousfield touched him inappropriately.
According to the arrest warrant, Busfield allegedly told police that the parents were upset that their son had been replaced by a younger actor who had auditioned for the role. The actor further claimed that an actress on the show told him that the mother of the alleged victim “wanted revenge,” according to the arrest warrant.
When investigators asked him if he had picked up or played with the boys, Busfield allegedly said “he probably would have done that” because he wanted “a fun environment.”
“That’s just not allowed,” Bousfield allegedly told investigators on set. “No, there was no protocol. I mean, I’m always around people, right? That would be, you know, in front of parents.”
An internal Warner Bros. investigation records that in December 2024, someone “claimed to have witnessed” an incident in the Hair and Makeup trailer in which “Executive Producer/Director Tim Busfield entered and kissed an underage male on the face while he was getting his hair cut.”
“In my training and experience, pedophiles often infiltrate families with trusted characters, such as Timothy, as a producer, who uses busy movie sets to tickle and touch SL’s penis and buttocks, disguising it as play,” an officer wrote in the arrest warrant.
The officer added that Bousfield “would invite family to parties and his wife would buy Christmas gifts to increase intimacy and make SL feel special and dependent – classic grooming that erodes boundaries, isolates victims and assuages suspicion by normalizing the abuse.”
“This dual strategy of engaging parents while covertly violating children creates a web of complicity that is difficult to unravel and delays investigations because families trust the appearance of the abuser,” the officer wrote in the arrest warrant.
Melissa Gilbert’s representative said in a statement that she is “not making a public statement at this time” and is “respecting the request of Tim’s attorney not to speak publicly while the legal proceedings unfold.”
The statement added: “Her focus during this time is to support and care for their extended family and help them through this moment. Melissa stands with and supports her husband and will speak to the public at the appropriate time. We ask that their privacy be respected.”
