The White House’s 2-word nickname for Trump is raising eyebrows

The White House’s latest epithet for President Donald Trump drew mixed reactions on social media.

The Trump administration’s official accounts on Instagram and X have resurrected a slogan that appears to have originated from a 2024 campaign rally.

The White House released a “Daddy’s Home” message Wednesday night, which included a cartoon of Trump giving a thumbs up and wearing a Santa hat in front of the White House.

The quote appears to have originated with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who suggested at a rally last October that Trump would defeat former Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Dad is angry,” Carlson told the crowd in Georgia. “When daddy comes home, you know what he says? ‘You’ve been a bad girl. You’ve been a bad little girl, and now you’re going to get a good spanking.'”

The phrase returned to the national spotlight in June after Nato Secretary-General Mark Rutte called Trump “daddy” during a summit in the Netherlands. Asked to respond to the comment, Trump said “I think he likes me,” before adding, “Dad, you’re my dad.”

“Daddy’s home… Hey, hey, hey daddy,” the White House account later posted to Usher’s 2010 hit, though the video has since been removed from X.

While some social media users described the new images as bizarre, others praised the festive prank.

“How weird,” responded one popular polling account.

Another user changed the text to “Epstein’s house,” referring to the late disgraced financier, and also added the world leader.

“I love this timeline we’re in,” another user wrote.

Journalist Charles C. W. Cook joked: “Thanks, but I have a dad.”

The article comes as First Lady Melania Trump announced “Home is Where the Heart Is” as the White House’s Christmas theme this year.

“The saying ‘Home is where the heart is’ resonates deeply with me, especially as I face the joys, challenges and frequent actions that come with motherhood and a career,” she told Fox News Digital this week. “The constant movement taught me that home is more than a physical space; rather, it is the warmth and comfort that I carry with me, regardless of my surroundings.”

“This Christmas, let us celebrate the love we carry within us and share it with the world around us,” the first lady added. “After all, no matter where we are, we can create a home filled with elegance, brilliance and endless possibilities.”
