But underneath it all, one of the show’s most important characters may not have any issues this season.
Quarterbacks coach Billy Fesler’s role could quietly impact Ohio State football for the next two years. Because with all the talent on the roster, the Buckeyes’ championship ceiling will ultimately come down to quarterback development.
This starts with Sain. He was outstanding in his first year as Ohio State’s starter, throwing for 3,610 yards and 32 touchdowns with just eight interceptions while completing about 77 percent of his passes. Those numbers put him firmly in the national spotlight and showed he can perform in a high-level offense.
But at Ohio State, production is only part of the equation. The next step is to turn efficiency into dominance. That means improving pocket presence against elite pass rushers, improving red zone execution, and consistently making the handful of throws that decide playoff games.
