The more things change, the more they stay the same. Texas A&M still has some staff positions to fill, and head coach Mike Elko is once again promoting from within to fill them.
Texas A&M announced Thursday that in-house employee John Perry will take over as wide receivers coach and Joey Lynch will be the new quarterbacks coach. The news about Perry is not surprising, as Coach Elko mentioned a few weeks ago that Perry would take a more active role at receiver. On the other hand, while there have been some rumors about Lynch taking over as quarterbacks coach, many fans are hoping that outside eyes will bring something new to the position group.

After Marcel Reed struggled at the end of the year for the second straight season, it was believed the team might look to the outside for a different approach. However, the Aggies do have an 11-2 record, and if you eliminate a few mental errors at the end of the season, they have every chance of beating Miami. Regardless, the news naturally prompted mixed reactions.
Perry previously served as an assistant wide receivers coach, so this was a natural transition. Lynch, a senior offensive analyst with more than 20 years of experience, will now take on a more hands-on role focused on taking the quarterback room to the next level.
