Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class was well represented this weekend, with head coach Mike Elko and his staff hosting a wide range of elite prospects in the 2027 and 2028 recruiting cycles. Headlined by the return of 2027 five-star linebacker Cooper Witten, five-star offensive tackle Kennedy Brown and the return of several current Aggies in the class, Elko is continuing to make progress and build strong relationships with each of its future stars.
In an effort to keep up with every prospect the coaching staff comes into contact with, we’re here to help you, and one of Elko’s earliest recruiting targets, 2027 four-star safety Semaj Stanley, who was hired by the Aggies a year and a half ago, has included Texas A&M on his list of 12 best programs.

Stanford, considered Oklahoma’s top defensive prospect, is likely well aware of Mike Elko’s background at defensive backs, having sent a number of safeties and cornerbacks to the NFL during his tenure as defensive coordinator, which included his final three seasons at Duke and Texas A&M.
So far, Elko has secured commitments from four-star safeties JayQuan Snell and Kamarui Dorsey, both of whom are considered blue-chip prospects and could play their freshman seasons. Add in the commitment of four-star cornerback Raylaun Henry, the 18th-ranked player in the class, and there’s no reason to think the Aggies can’t acquire Semaj Stanley.
Even better, while Stanford will play safety at the next level, he played both ways during his high school career, including as a standout wide receiver.
According to 247Sports, Stanford is currently positioned as the No. 84 prospect in the class, the No. 6 safety and the No. 4 Oklahoma prospect.
