Two teenagers were arrested following a shooting in South Carolina on Sunday, according to the West Columbia Police Department.
Police said officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2400 block of Augusta Road around 5:30 p.m. This is the Walmart Supercenter near Exit 111 on I-26 in the West Columbia area of Lexington County.
Immediately after the shooting, police asked community members to avoid the area.
On Monday morning, police said 19-year-old Jaeden Jones and 18-year-old Ty’ron Bethea were arrested on charges related to the shooting.
Jones was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, criminal conspiracy and possession of marijuana, police said in a news release Monday.
Bethea was charged with possession of marijuana, according to the release.
There is no information yet on where or when Jones and Bethea were taken into custody.
Police told the state the shooting was not fatal and no injuries were reported.
There is no information yet on any other shooters or how many people were involved in the incident. There is no word on a motive for the shooting.
Jones and Bethea are being held at the Lexington County Detention Center without bond, jail records show. Bethea is scheduled to return to court on March 26, according to Lexington County judicial records. No information was immediately available on Jones’ next court appearance following the bail hearing.
Despite the arrest, police continue to investigate the shooting.
