If you’re a T-Mobile customer, the new loyalty program may save you money. Well, maybe. The problem is that the program isn’t widely publicized, and T-Mobile’s website doesn’t make it clear what special savings programs are available. The program, called the “Loyalty Program,” is also limited to certain customer accounts, and T-Mobile hasn’t provided any clear statement about which accounts are eligible and which are not.
This isn’t the only frustrating choice T-Mobile has made. It also offers the new “Experience More Value-Added Savings Plan”. It’s a catchy name. Again, this program was not explicitly advertised, was only available to certain accounts, and was not detailed. The services feel like a way to keep customers who are frustrated by rising prices on T-Mobile’s monthly bills from leaving. Maybe that’s their intention. The ambiguity about who qualifies for these plans and why can be a quick trap for angry customers who call to plan on canceling their T-Mobile accounts.

T-Mobile’s Loyalty Program

The T-Mobile loyalty program has its pros and cons. It focuses on providing substantial savings to households with multiple lines. One line is $65 per month, two lines is $120 per month. Each additional line after that costs $12, at least until you reach 8 lines. The cost is reasonable; however, T-Mobile is using this plan to offset the lower price, but the plan has a lot of downsides.
You don’t get the five-year price guarantee that other plans offer. You get only 50GB of premium data compared to other plans that offer unlimited premium data. You don’t get high-speed mobile hotspots or what T-Mobile calls Simple Global High-Speed Data (which comes with other plans). It also doesn’t offer bonus subscriptions, which other plans do, such as those from Netflix or Hulu.
Since it’s titled “Loyalty Program,” you’ll need to be an existing T-Mobile customer to take advantage of it. T-Mobile doesn’t detail how long you need to be a customer to get the plan, though. It’s not covered on the website, so you may only be able to talk to a customer service representative directly about it. Given that T-Mobile is already facing legal troubles, this lack of clarity may not be the best way to regain trust.
T-Mobile’s other loyalty programs

As mentioned earlier, T-Mobile also offers Experience More value-added savings plans. This details how long you need to stay loyal to T-Mobile. If you have been with them for at least two years, you may qualify for this program. Again, T-Mobile didn’t provide details about what other qualifications you’ll need to meet. The main attraction here is the lower cost of two phone lines. One phone cord costs $75; two cost $120. Additional lines increase $30 per line per month for a total of 8 lines.
This program has fewer disadvantages than loyalty programs. You do get a five-year price guarantee, and you get unlimited premium data. You will get 60GB high-speed mobile hotspot data and 5GB simple global high-speed data. It also offers subscription bonuses. With a built-in Netflix subscription, you can get Apple TV for just $3 a month. Given that Apple TV normally costs $12.99 per month as of this writing, this is a pretty good deal.
One problem with this plan is that it doesn’t offer as much trade-in credit as T-Mobile’s other plans. So if you were planning on upgrading your phone through T-Mobile, this might put you off that plan.
