Swarm of flying termites force softball state title game to be postponed

Normally, high school state championship games are suspended only when severe weather disruptions or global events occur. Tuesday night’s Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 1A state championship softball game between the Sebastopol (MS) Attendance Center and the Myrtle (MS) West Union Attendance Center was postponed for very different reasons.

A swarm of flying termites was reported to have appeared during the game, leading to the postponement of Sevastopol’s game against Western United until this morning, according to reports from spectators including Daily Sport. Game is scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. Central time with Western United leading 4-0 in the fifth inning.
