Surveillance video shows massive explosion in Canby

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Surveillance video obtained by KOIN 6 shows the moment a tank There was an explosion in Canby on Tuesday.

One of two gas tanks exploded at the Kittyhawk Products plant, officials said. Both tanks are at least two stories high and located underground.

On February 3, the explosion in Canby was caught on camera.

Three employees were inside the store at the time of the explosion, one of whom was taken to hospital.

There’s a chance the second tank could explode, so Canby Fire Chief Matt Dyer said they won’t send firefighters until the morning. The explosion caused severe damage to the building’s exterior.

“Every minute that goes by, the tank is cooling. So we don’t expect it to explode. But we are being very cautious in case that happens,” he said.

Level 3 “go now” evacuation for Redwood Street remains in effect.
