president Donald Trump He was angry that a House Democrat he had just pardoned chose to stay with the party rather than defect to the Republican Party.
Earlier Sunday, the president lashed out at members of the House of Representatives in a fiery post in The Truth Society magazine. Henry Cuellar (Texas Democratic Party) announced his intention to run for re-election as a Democrat despite receiving a presidential pardon. Cuellar faces charges for allegedly accepting more than $600,000 in foreign bribes. (The congressman’s wife, Imelda, was also charged for her role in the scheme.)
“Can you imagine???” Trump wrote. “Under the crooked Joe Biden administration, Democrats have always used extreme force and incarceration to destroy their political opponents. They want to put Congressman Henry Cuellar and his wife Imelda in jail for 15 years, which I predict these radical left-wing lunatics will do – and they have never stopped in their evil pursuit! The Democrats relentlessly go after Henry with all their might! They want to destroy him, his lovely wife, his two young daughters, and anyone close to him.” When Democrats Lose in Landslide 2024 When the President was elected and out of power, they did whatever they could to continue to hunt the Cuellars, all because Henry wanted border security so badly! “
The president went on to cite a letter written by two of Cuellar’s daughters asking for clemency for their parents.
Trump wrote: “What they did to him and his family was so unfair that his daughters wrote me a beautiful letter about their parents (just posted on TRUTH!). After reading the letter, I decided, in the interest of justice, and based on the love of my daughters Please, I will grant Henry and Imelda a full and complete pardon. “I have never spoken to the Congressman, his wife, or his daughters, but am so happy to be fighting for a family that has been tormented by a seriously ill and mentally disturbed man – how terribly they were treated! “
But Trump quickly changed his tune.
“Shortly after signing the pardon, Congressman Henry Cuellar announced that he would once again ‘run’ for Congress as a Democrat in the great state of Texas (a state where I received the highest number of votes ever!), continuing to work with the same radical left-wing scum who just weeks ago wanted him and his wife to spend the rest of their lives in prison – and probably still do!” Trump wrote. “Such a lack of loyalty is something Texas voters and Henry’s daughters won’t like. Oh well, next time, no more Mr. Nice Guy!”
“Nothing has changed — I’m a good old conservative Democrat,” Cuellar said Wednesday.
