The best 3-point shooter in NBA history is ready to return to the 3-Point Contest…in 2027. Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry said Sunday he hopes to participate in the 3-Point Contest next season.
Curry made the announcement during an appearance on NBC. When asked if he felt he needed to return to the game after watching Damian Lillard win his third 3-point contest, Curry said: “100 percent.”

“I’ve got it lined up,” he added, saying he wanted to make sure Lillard and Curry’s former teammate Klay Thompson were included in the celebration.
Curry was motivated by Lillard, who is recovering from Achilles surgery, and he joined an elite group with his third 3-point contest win. Curry has won this event twice, in 2015 and 2021. It sounds like he wants to match Lillard, or at least see if he can beat Lillard.
Thompson also won a three-point contest. He won the 2016 competition.
Curry is the player with the most three-pointers in league history, and he still maintains a high level in his 17th career season. The 37-year-old is averaging 27.2 points per game this season, his most since the 2022-23 NBA season.

That performance was enough to make Curry a starter in the 2026 All-Star Game, but the Warriors star missed the game with a knee injury.
Despite sitting outside, Curry seemed to be having a great time at the festivities. In addition to making the announcement, Curry took shots on NBA Showtime and became one of the biggest cheerleaders at every All-Star game on Sunday.
Although Curry continues to perform at a high level, the Warriors are once again fighting for a Western Conference playoff spot. Entering Monday, the team had a record of 29 wins and 26 losses, ranking eighth in the Western Conference.
