Spirit Airlines has canceled more than 250 flights since Friday, February 13, with many stranded at South Florida airports.
Several flights from Palm Beach International Airport to Atlantic City and Newark, New Jersey, have been canceled over the past seven days, according to the FlightAware website.
The airline, which is currently filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in less than a year, acknowledged it has been experiencing flight cancellations and delays due to staffing shortages.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where Spirit Airlines is the main airline, is one of the hardest-hit airports in the United States. Spirit Airlines has canceled 89 flights over the Presidents Day weekend, with 11 additional flights canceled as of 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, according to FlightAware.
With so many cancellations from Spirit Airlines, Fort Lauderdale has one of the highest number of cancellations at any airport in the country. Unlike Fort Lauderdale, Spirit Airlines is not PBIA’s primary airline.
Orlando International Airport has also been severely affected by Spirit Airlines cancellations.
On January 16, 2026, JetBlue, Spirit Airlines and Delta Air Lines aircraft landed at Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach, Florida.
In addition to flight cancellations, other airports that Spirit flies to frequently are also experiencing significant delays.
