SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – Firefighters across Smith County are currently working to contain a 15-acre fire near County Road 246.
East Texas firefighters deploy to Panhandle to battle Lavender, 8 Ball wildfires
According to Smith County Emergency Services District 2 (ESD2), multiple crews are responding to the scene near County Road 246 and County Road 346. The Texas A&M Forest Service said the fire was 15 acres and 80% contained as of 6:07 p.m. Saturday.

No structures are currently threatened by the fire and no injuries have been reported. Smith County ESD2 is asking drivers in the area to watch for first responders directing traffic or bulldozers unloading near fires.
