First up is Fox: Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., called on House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-Louisiana, to immediately block taxpayer funding for gender reassignment treatment for minors, warning that billions in federal funds could soon go to providers like Planned Parenthood.
In a letter to Johnson on Thursday afternoon, Hawley stressed that “time is of the essence,” noting that the current federal ban on taxpayer payments to abortion and “transgender therapy” providers is set to expire on July 4.
Hawley recently tried to pass a similar ban in the Senate, but it was rejected Wednesday night, leaving the onus squarely on the House.

“If the House fails to act immediately as part of reconciliation, billions in federal funds will flow to Planned Parenthood and other medical ‘providers’ providing hormones, puberty blockers and irreversible treatments to underage children,” Hawley wrote, calling the prospect “unreasonable.”
Hawley warned that billions of dollars could be diverted from Medicaid.

Hawley called the idea of federal funding for gender change in children “unreasonable.”
The senator cited Government Accountability Office (GAO) estimates that Planned Parenthood alone received more than $1.5 billion in Medicare and Medicaid funding between 2019 and 2021.
Hawley also cited a new study from Concerned Women for America that found a more than 40 percent increase in transgender treatment and related services at Planned Parenthood clinics.

He argued that the group was “prepared to use taxpayer funds it receives from the elderly and those in need to strengthen its transgender agenda” and asked Johnson to act “without delay or hesitation”.

If the bill passes, the budget amendment Hawley proposed Wednesday would be added to the congressional budget resolution for fiscal 2026 and create a path to fund abortion providers — as long as it doesn’t add to the national debt.
