Sean McVay shares injury updates on Quentin Lake, Davante Adams and others

The Los Angeles Rams have been hit hard in recent weeks, missing players like Davante Adams, Kevin Dotson and Alaric Jackson. They enter Week 18 with improved health, but the real goal is to be ready for the playoffs.

Sean McVay shared an injury update on some key players ahead of Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. This is mostly positive news, which is encouraging with less than two weeks until the playoffs begin.

Here’s the latest on injured players for the Rams.

Quentin Lake

McVay said the Rams plan to designate Lake to return from injured reserve on Thursday, his first return to practice since an elbow injury in Week 11. Lake is not expected to play on Sunday, but he is expected to be ready for the playoffs.

“Lake would rather have him on the practice field and expect him to be available for the first round of the playoffs,” McVay said.

Davante Adams

According to McVay, Adams was “running around and moving well,” but he wasn’t ready to return to the game. Like Lake, there’s an expectation that he’ll be ready for the start of the postseason as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

“He’s been running around and moving well,” he said. “I wouldn’t say he misses the game completely, but he probably won’t play. The goal for him and Quentin is definitely to look forward to them being ready for the playoffs.”

Alaric Jackson

Jackson missed Week 17 with a knee injury but is improving. McVay said he expects Jackson to start Sunday against the Cardinals, which will be a big boost after seeing DJ Humpreis struggle all night in Atlanta.

Rob Havenstein

Havenstein remains on injured reserve, and McVay said he doesn’t think the team will open his practice window this week. His last game was in Week 11, but he has been dealing with ankle and knee injuries.

Tyler Higbee

Higbee’s practice window opened Wednesday, and the Rams designated him to return from IR. McVay is excited to have Higbee back, especially as a leader in the locker room.

However, it’s unclear if Higbee will play this weekend. The team hopes he will be ready for the playoffs.

Kevin Dotson

This isn’t the latest news from McVay, but from popular reporter Adam Grossbard of the Los Angeles Daily News. Dotson was seen moving “very carefully” in the locker room, a sign he won’t play this week. It’s unclear how long he will be out due to an ankle injury suffered in Week 16.
