Today, the Seattle Seahawks assistant coaches are interviewing for the second time for the open coordinator position.
Just a day after they marched in a world championship parade in Seattle, new Las Vegas Raiders head coach Clint Kubiak is interviewing Seahawks wide receivers coach Freeman Jackson for the offensive coordinator position. NFL reporter Tom Pelissero broke the news on the X just before noon PST.
Jackson seems to be a good fit with Kubiak, even though they were only together for one year in Seattle. His two-year resume with the team was centered around Jaxon Smith-Ngiba, who blossomed into a superstar under his watch. He helped increase his single-season yardage total from 628 yards the year before to 1,130 in his first year (2023), then found even more room for improvement, helping him go from good to great, going from 1,130 yards in 2024 to 1,793 yards in 2025. Kubiak’s offense is built around stretching the defense laterally through his routes to receivers and running wide. What this move tells us is that it’s no coincidence that Jackson’s position group thrives on these principles, and Kubiak turned to him first when laying the framework for his operation in Las Vegas.

The Raiders are the last team to officially have a new head coach in the building since Kubiak went to the Super Bowl. They need to turn things around quickly before the new NFL league year. With just eleven days left until the NFL Combine, they must flesh out their offensive and defensive schemes before deciding on their draft needs. Soon after, free agency will begin on March 11, and they need to start building their roster.
