The Scottish Football Association (SFA) has confirmed that the Tartans have been given the green light to wear kilts with kilts at this summer’s World Cup matches.

Sporrans initially failed to meet strict safety standards, but following negotiations between world football’s governing body FIFA and the SFA, it has now been agreed that fans can wear them.

Under current regulations at both stadiums, the only large bags allowed into the venue must be made of clear plastic and must not exceed 30cm x 30cm x 15cm in size.

Any opaque packet must be no larger than 11cm x 16.5cm – almost half the size of many sporrans.

Without this deal, Scotland fans would have to leave their shirts in lockers outside or discard them entirely.
