“We are excited to return to Mexico and play in front of one of the most passionate fan bases in the league,” 49ers CEO Aljido said in a release.
“After two unforgettable experiences in Mexico City in 2005 and 2022, we are excited to reunite with our Mexican fans and look forward to the energy of the local fans creating a real home field advantage for our overseas teams.”
In 2026, 9 international NFL games will be held in four continents including North America, South America, Europe and Australia, setting a historical record. Other games will be held in London, Madrid, Melbourne, Munich, Paris and Rio de Janeiro.
“We are pleased to host the San Francisco 49ers once again in Mexico City for the 2026 NFL Mexico game,” said NFL Director General Arturo Olive. “Returning to Banoteau Stadium underscores our strong, ongoing commitment to Mexico. There are few places that generate the kind of energy we see here, and we look forward to returning to a country that has played such an important role in the development of our game.”
