Real Madrid could be looking for a new manager this summer amid doubts over Alvaro Arbeloa’s continuity. The 43-year-old, who was promoted from Castilla following the departure of Xavi Alonso in January, has had an inconsistent spell at the Bernabeu and despite having the support of his players, there are concerns about him from the club’s hierarchy.
If Arbeloa does not stay, Real Madrid is likely to choose an experienced player. Jurgen Klopp is their dream candidate but he has reservations about returning to management at this time, which is why Florentino Perez and co are considering others.

One of those being watched is Mauricio Pochettino, whose contract as head coach of the U.S. national team is set to expire after this summer’s World Cup. However, MD reports that Real Madrid will face competition from Tottenham Hotspur, whom the Argentine coached between 2014 and 2019.
Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a new permanent manager, with Igor Tudor not expected to stay at the club beyond the end of his term as interim manager. Pochettino is their top target and they believe the emotional lure will be enough to beat Real Madrid to his signature in the summer.
Real Madrid coach has a big decision to make
It is vital that Real Madrid get their next coaching appointment right. Alonso looked like a safe bet last summer but struggled to keep players on side during his tenure, which led to his downfall. Arbeloa seems to have mastered this, but his tactics have been questioned, which has led to some poor results, including defeats to Albacete, Osasuna and Getafe.
It remains to be seen where Real Madrid will go, but if a new manager is needed, Pochettino would be an attractive option.
