Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson has to have an MVP-type performance over the last five games

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is a dual-threat, but his up-and-down game presents a psychological duality. Jackson and the Ravens have yet to reach their potential in 2025, but they can move into first place in the AFC North with a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14. The question is, which version of Jackson will fans see this coming Sunday?

Jackson hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass since Week 10, but his offense did force some costly turnovers last Thursday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Offensive coordinator Todd Monken publicly ignored the blame, but Jackson showed subtle signs of agitation during a news conference alluding to the issue. Still, all scorn could easily be dismissed if Jackson showed up and performed. Jackson had impeccable numbers last season, passing for over 4,000 yards and 41 touchdowns, but we don’t even see signs of replicating that in 2025. For most people, understanding the spectrum from good to bad is almost shocking, and Jackson seemed to exhibit the same tendencies as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

The Buffalo Bills have also had their ups and downs this season, but they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13 with 259 yards rushing. Jackson and the Ravens, on the other hand, haven’t posted a convincing win since beating the New York Jets 23-10 in Week 12. Even in that game, Jackson struggled to get the offense going in the first half, like he did in Week 13. 13. Jackson is not expected to be the league MVP this season, and the Ravens are not expected to win the Super Bowl. However, if they can finish the 2025 season with a winning streak, the chance of a Lombardi Trophy still exists.

Ultimately, potential cannot continue to be the currency that convinces critics that Jackson’s name belongs among the elite. Unfortunately, while Jackson and the Ravens are one win away from taking the lead in the AFC North, they may also miss out on a chance to make the 2025 NFL Playoffs.
