Rak-Sakyi ‘really interesting’ – Swans Boss Matos

Swansea City manager Vitor Matos has described Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi as “very interesting” after Swansea were linked with a move for him in January.

The Swans confirmed the signing of former Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward on a contract until the end of the season on Friday, their first signing of the January transfer window.

Matos did not confirm whether the club would be interested in signing the 23-year-old before the end of this month, but said there was “a lot that we like” about the player.

He said: “Lac Sacchi is of course a good player.

“He had an impact at Sheffield United last season and he had an impact at Charlton before that, so he’s certainly a very interesting guy.

“But yeah, he’s one of the names that we keep seeing and monitoring and let’s see what happens next.”

Sacchi spent last season on loan at Sheffield United and currently plays for Çakul Rizesburg in Turkey, where he has been on loan since the start of the season.

Matos added: “We are currently looking for a number of players if we think they are the right fit for the team.”

“There’s a lot of stuff in Rak-Sakyi that we like, which is great, but of course it’s just a rumor at the moment so I can’t confirm it.”

Matos also played down the possibility of first-team players leaving the club this month.

The Portuguese do want to bring in more reinforcements with summer signing Adam Ida ruled out for the next three months through injury.

“As I said before, the January market is a tricky market, a special market,” Matos said.

“We need to see what is available, what we can do and the club, what suits and improves the possibilities for the team.

“Every day is a new day in terms of solutions, and every time we feel we have what we want, we announce it.”
