MOSCOW, March 2 (Reuters) – Russian President Vladimir Putin told his United Arab Emirates counterpart Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in a phone call on Monday that he was prepared to convey his displeasure to Tehran over Iran’s attack on Emirati territory, the Kremlin said.
It quoted the Emirati leader as saying his country was not being used as a base to attack Iran and therefore Iran’s attacks on the UAE were unjustified.
“Vladimir Putin expressed his readiness to convey these signals to Tehran and provide all possible assistance to stabilize the overall situation in the region,” the Kremlin said in a statement after the call.

The two leaders agreed on the need for an immediate ceasefire and the resumption of diplomacy, the report said. It also quoted Putin as saying that “unprovoked acts of armed aggression” by the United States and Israel undermined efforts to find a solution to the problem of Iran’s nuclear program.
Dubai is a popular destination for Russian tourists and the Kremlin said Putin thanked the UAE president for his efforts to help Russian nationals during the current situation.
