Sony has announced the addition of PlayStation Plus to its monthly games list for December. Next month’s free games are led by the co-op adventure It Takes Two, which puts players in control of an estranged couple stuck in a “honey, I shrunk the kids” dilemma. Other games joining PS Plus in December include real-time tactics game Alien: The Dark Descent and Pokémon-inspired creature collection game Temtem. Starting December 3, these three games will be available to PS Plus subscribers at the Essential, Extra, and Deluxe/Premium tiers.
Announced on the PlayStation Blog on Wednesday, December’s PS Plus Games of the Month will be available to members until January 6. All PS Plus subscribers can add the game to their library and will have continued access after January 6th as long as their subscription is active.
The PS Plus Game of the Month for November is still available on the service, and players have until December 2 to add Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Death Note Killer Within to their library. Here’s a detailed look at the games coming to PS Plus in December:

Winner of Game of the Year at the 2021 Game Awards, It Takes Two is strictly a two-player co-op adventure game – you can experience it online or in local split-screen multiplayer. This critically acclaimed game from Josef Fares’ Hazelight Studios puts players in control of a married couple who are magically transformed into tiny, living dolls. As they work to return to their old selves, they travel through different parts of the house and work together to solve the challenges they encounter. During the adventure, they also try to repair their relationship.
Each level mimics a certain room or area in the house, with different environments and obstacles. Each level also features unique gameplay mechanics and abilities to keep things fresh. “It Takes Two” will be released on PS4 and PS5.
Alien: The Dark Descent
Alien: The Dark Descent, released in 2023, is a real-time tactics game set in the world of the popular sci-fi horror series Alien. The game is set 19 years after the events of the first three Alien films, and puts players in charge of a force of colonial marines tasked with dealing with the alien threat. Tactical games are played from a top-down perspective, with players deploying troops and issuing battle orders.
The game has five starting classes with different weapons and abilities. Squad members can also be customized and upgraded over time. In addition to fighting aliens, players will also encounter agents of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. Alien: The Dark Descent will be available on PS4 and PS5.

Fan of the Pokémon games? The creature collecting game Temtem allows players to capture and collect the titular Temtem, which can be battled against other online players or NPCs. The game features an explorable world, the Drop Islands, where they can find and tame new creatures. In addition to participating in online battles, players are tasked with defeating the Bersoto clan who aim to take over the islands. The game will be released on PS5.
All three games are free to play for PS Plus members at the Essential, Extra and Deluxe/Premium levels. In addition to the monthly games, Sony also revealed new game trials, sneak previews of new additions to the classic catalog and more to mark PlayStation’s 30th anniversary next month.
PS Plus Deluxe/Premium members will be able to try the sci-fi action-adventure game “Warhammer 40,000 Starfighter 2” from December 3rd. On December 10, “Sly 2: Band of Thieves,” “Sly 3: Honor of Thieves” and “Jak & Daxter: Forerunner Legacy” will join the classic catalog.
Sony is also hosting a free online multiplayer weekend from December 6th to 8th. During this period, players can enter online multiplayer games and play their own games without subscribing to PS Plus.
The PlayStation parent company will also host a series of PS5 esports tournaments over the same weekend, including games like EA Sports FC 25, NBA 2K25, Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat 1 and more. Additionally, Sony is offering a free 30-month PS Plus Deluxe/Premium membership to 30 winners in select countries.
