While the New York Yankees were able to re-sign their star outfielders Cody Bellinger and Trent Grisham, they have yet to make any major outside moves. If they want to compete as usual, they need to make at least one copy.

Fanside’s Mark Powell and Winston Wilcox suggest the Yankees reach a deal with the Minnesota Twins and bring in their two-time All-Star center fielder Byron Buxton. Buxton provides another huge bat to back up Aaron Judge and an impressive glove in center field.
More: The Red Sox are expected to part ways with the .282 AVG star outfielder worth $90 million via trade to make more room for Jarren Duran and his staff.
Aaron Judge is lethal. Aaron Judge’s performance is consistent. Aaron Judge has everything it takes to be a star player. But there’s one thing he can’t do, and that’s do it all alone. That’s why the Yankees need to add more offense in the form of Buxton. He will be a great addition to the outfield along with Judge. After losing the Soto sweepstakes, only adding a late-career outfielder could keep them relevant in the postseason,” Powell and Wilcox wrote.
Last season, Buxton slashed .264/.327/.551/.878 with 21 doubles, 35 homers and 83 RBIs in 126 games. He would be an all-around upgrade over Grisham, as he hit more home runs and was named Wilson’s Defensive Player of the Year.

Buxton will only make about $45 million in the final three years of his contract. The Yankees have mentioned they want to keep costs down, so acquiring him would certainly kill two birds with one stone.
If the Yankees were smart, they would begin negotiations immediately and try to get Buxton on the team through spring training. Otherwise, another competitor will see Buxton’s good deal and swoop in to grab him.
